Gauteng Health to commemorate World Tuberculosis Day, 24 Mar

The Gauteng Health Department will commemorate World TB Day on 24 March 2008. Themed "Stop TB, Complete your treatment!!!" the department will be emphasising that TB is curable. People must not die or develop multi drug resistant (MDR) or extreme drug resistant (XDR) TB. [highlighted result]

Mpumalanga Health to commemorate World Tuberculosis Day, 24 Mar

The TB defaulter rate (people not completing their six months treatment) remains high at 11 percent as well as the death rate (people who die as result of TB) at 10 percent. The Province currently has 302 patients on treatment of which 99 are in the ward whilst 203 are on community Direct Observed Treatment (DOT). TB treatment is free at all public health facilities.
